Upgrades to an item also alter its upgrade path, reducing the chance of getting an unsatisfactory affix roll. This is important for equipment, like Rogue gear, which relies on a high-quality affix to succeed in the game.
The upgrader of an item can transfer substats from one item to another. This is only used on rings and only on items that are of the same rarity and tier. This is a great method to upgrade an item without spending a lot of money.
With 1 Angel Investors, you can purchase an extension known as EZ Upgrader for the Rerolling system.
